Wochenmahl

Terms of use

The rules for using Wochenmahl. As of October 5, 2026. This English version is a courtesy translation; the German version applies.

In short

Wochenmahl is free, and you must be at least 16. Your recipes stay yours. If you publish one, we may show it in Wochenmahl until you withdraw it – so only publish what you have the right to publish. AI suggestions and allergen notes are estimates. You can leave and delete your account at any time.

Scope and provider

These terms apply to using Wochenmahl in the browser and in the apps for iOS and Android. The provider is the person named in the legal notice. How we handle your data is not covered here but in the privacy policy.

What Wochenmahl is

Wochenmahl helps you and your household plan the week, collect recipes and shop. It is currently free to use; there is no entitlement to particular features. Should there ever be paid extras, they come with their own terms, which you explicitly accept before any purchase.

Who may use Wochenmahl

You must be at least 16 years old. An account is personal: use an email address that belongs to you and do not share your sign-in details. Whoever plans with you gets an invitation to your household rather than your account.

Account, guest access and household

While we offer it, you can try Wochenmahl as a guest without an account. Guest access is meant for trying things out: if you create an account, your data comes along; unused guest access is deleted after a while. In a household, every member sees the shared plan, the lists and the household’s recipes. Only invite people you want to share that with.

Content rules

Recipes, photos, notes and everything else you create stay yours and are private until you publish them. Not allowed is content that breaks the law or infringes the rights of others – in particular other people’s texts and photos without permission, insults, hate speech, depictions of violence or sexual content, advertising and spam, malware, and dangerous instructions disguised as recipes. Published recipes must also be real recipes and meet the minimum quality the app checks before publishing. Do not try to disrupt Wochenmahl, get around security measures or scrape content automatically.

Published recipes

When you publish a recipe, it appears in the community and under a public link anyone can open. For this you grant us the non-exclusive, royalty-free and worldwide right to store and show the recipe with its photos in Wochenmahl and to adapt it technically for display, for example in image size. This right ends when you withdraw the recipe or delete your account. Copies others saved to their own collection before then stay there for their private use. By publishing, you confirm that you hold the necessary rights to the text and photos.

Recipes from other sources

Recipes you take from websites, books or photos are for your private use and that of your household. The source stays noted on the recipe. You can only publish a recipe with someone else’s source if you confirm that you may – for example because it is yours or its author agreed. Ingredient lists are usually free to use, but descriptions, method texts and photos are often protected by copyright.

Reports and moderation

Anyone can report content to us that is illegal or breaks these terms: with “Report” on the recipe or by email to the point of contact in the legal notice. People, not algorithms, review reports. We decide promptly, carefully and with regard to the rights of everyone involved, including freedom of expression. Depending on severity, we withdraw a recipe from the community, remove content or, for serious or repeated breaches, suspend an account, temporarily or permanently. Whoever reports learns our decision. Whoever is affected by a measure gets our reasons and the rule or law it is based on. You can object by replying to our message; we then review again. You can also turn to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body under Art. 21 of the Digital Services Act or go to court. If someone frequently sends manifestly unfounded reports, we stop processing their reports for a while after a warning.

AI features

Some features use artificial intelligence, such as plan suggestions, reading recipes from photos and links, tags and allergen notes. We label such results. They can be wrong or incomplete – check them before you rely on them. Allergen notes are estimates and do not replace looking at the ingredients and packaging; with allergies or intolerances, never rely on Wochenmahl alone. Wochenmahl is not medical or nutritional advice.

Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep Wochenmahl running reliably but cannot guarantee it: maintenance, disruptions and outages happen. Features can change or go away. If we shut Wochenmahl down entirely, we will say so at least four weeks in advance so you can export your data.

Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are only liable if we breach an essential obligation you may rely on being fulfilled, and then only for foreseeable, typical damage. Otherwise our liability is excluded. Content from other users and linked pages is the responsibility of its authors.

Leaving and deletion

You can leave Wochenmahl at any time: under Profile → My profile → Delete account you delete your account along with your data. We can end your use with four weeks’ notice. For good cause, such as serious or repeated breaches of these terms, we suspend or delete an account immediately; where reasonable, we hear you first.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we announce it at least four weeks in advance by email or in the app and say what changes. Changes that significantly limit your rights only apply with your consent. If you do not agree with a change, you can delete your account at any time.

Applicable law

German law applies. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence still apply to you. We do not take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

Contact

Questions, reports and objections reach us at the email address in the legal notice. It is also our single point of contact for users and authorities under Art. 11 and 12 of the Digital Services Act. You can write to us in German or English.
